Performer bios - 2nd Edition

Into the Woods is a blend of angelic vocals, Lauren's rhythmic strums and Priscilla's spirited solos on the banjo, mandolin, guitar, cajon and anything else she picks up. Lately Lauren and Priscilla have been playing popular folk-rock and bluegrass music, and they plan to produce original music in the near future. Priscilla and Lauren find a peaceful refuge in their music, and hope that their listeners experience a similar
 type of freedom.
AJ has dedicated much of his early adult life to musical pursuits. He loves to travel, meet new people and learn new songs. He hopes you all enjoy the show!
Dee Abell lives with her husband of fifteen years, Daniel, and their two sons, Luke and Seth. She has been a freelance photographer for over 15 years, and a licensed cosmetologist. She currently works at King's Koiffure Salon in Temecula. She has been volunteering her gifts and talents for 20 years to help struggling families and military families through various organizations and private venues. She uses her artistic talents to help people record their most precious memories while endeavoring to reach others for Christ through her practical gifts of cosmetology and photography skills.

Laurissa Rudgers is an actress, photographer, painter, and anything in between. Currently a student at Cal State San Marcos, she is fulfilling a Visual and Performing Arts degree to act and eventually teach drama. As a rape survivor, she uses any and all forms of art as catharsis to constantly work through the ups and downs that are a part of life and the healing process. She hopes that sharing her artwork [at Freeways] can inspire anyone to pick up a pen, paintbrush, camera...anything, and do the same.

BLOODTYPE G ROCKS! Check out their silent auction donation.

THANK YOU BLOODTYPE G!

Against Our Will: Men, Women and Rape is a 1975 book
by Susan Brownmiller. Widely credited with changing public outlooks and attitudes about rape, the book promoted the concept that rape was not the victim's fault. Brownmiller described rape as "a conscious process of intimidation by which all men keep all women in a state of fear" (see Johanna Vogelsang's painting below). Miller asserted that "rape is a crime not of lust, but of violence and power."

Seraphim in the Bible and Art

The one reference to the Seraphim in the Old Testament, can be found in Isaiah Chapter 6, verses 1 through 3, which is Isaiah's vision. The passage reads, "In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were Seraphs, each with six wings, with two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another, holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty, the whole earth is full of his glory."

A Seraphim from Migne's Patrologia Latina

Within Christian theology, the Seraphim occupy the highest rank of angels, and are the direct caretakers of God's throne. Circling the heavenly seat, they are locked in an eternal song referred to as the Trisagion song. The first mention of the Seraphim within the Christian New Testament is in the Book of Revelation Chapter 4, verses 6 through 8. This verse goes on to describe them in more detail than the first mention of them in the Old Testament, and has allowed scholars to understand them more. For the scripture excerpt, read on:

"And before the throne there was a sea of glass, and in the center and around the throne, four living creatures full of eyes in front and behind. The first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf, and the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle. Each of the four living creatures had six wings and were full of eyes inside and out. Without stopping day or night they were saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, who is, and who is coming very soon."
